The Fleischmanns Report
There’s a noticeable uptick across Fleischmanns right now, as storefronts come back to life and the village begins to feel the early push toward the summer season. What used to be a quieter stretch is quickly filling in, with more reasons to spend time on Main Street.
The Village has officially launched its new municipal website at www.FleischmannsNY.com, offering a central hub for updates and information for both residents and visitors. The launch marks a meaningful step toward improving communication and transparency between village officials and the community, making it easier to access important information and stay informed about local matters.
The Mountain Athletic Club has announced its schedule for the upcoming vintage baseball season. Their first home game will take place on May 16 against the Westfield Wheelmen at Fleischmanns Park.
On the food front, options in the village continue to grow. Catskill Taco Shack is now open seven days a week from 12 to 8 p.m., adding to the number of places offering consistent daily service.
This weekend, Two Stones Farm will also have a selection of fresh baked goods available, including breads, pastries, and other seasonal offerings.
The Print House will reopen on Friday, May 1 following a short break, debuting a new spring menu.
Wax & Wild continues to build out its programming with two events in the coming week. On Sunday, May 3 at noon, the shop will host a pot painting and planting workshop for children. Later in the week, on May 7, Wax & Wild will lead a Mother’s Day–focused floral arrangement workshop at The Print House. More info available at www.waxandwild.com
Also returning for the season, Harold’s Cold Comfort Ice Cream Truck will begin scooping ice cream in the village starting Sunday, May 3 at noon, marking another sign that the warmer months are arriving.
Art remains a central part of the village’s activity. 1053 Gallery will open a new exhibition, What the Eye Learns, featuring Trevor Wilson and Jim Zidvic, with a reception on Saturday, May 2 from 4 to 7 p.m. The exhibit will be on view from May 2 - May 31.
Residents are reminded that the annual Earth Day Village Cleanup will take place on Sunday, May 3. Volunteers are encouraged to meet at the village gazebo at 9:30 a.m. to receive supplies and assignments before heading out. All participants will return to the village park at noon to drop off collected debris and enjoy a community barbecue, with food provided by Mayor Sam Gil and the Board of Trustees.
Planning continues to build for the Fleischmanns Memorial Day Street Fair, set for Sunday May 24, with new vendors continuing to be confirmed. Among them is Oyster Party, which will be offering fresh oysters and lobster rolls during the event, adding to an already strong and diverse food lineup. With each new addition, the fair continues to grow in both scale and variety as it approaches later this month.
Fleischmanns is hitting a real stride as the season begins, with new businesses and a growing calendar of events coming into alignment. As Memorial Day approaches and activity continues to build week by week, the village is positioning itself as a destination for the spring and summer ahead, shaping up to be one of the most active seasons in years. The energy on Main Street is unmistakable, and it’s only just getting started.
