Schoharie Sweeps Holy Trinity in Dual Track Meet
SCHOHARIE — The Schoharie track and field teams earned a decisive double victory, defeating Holy Trinity (HT) in both the boys' and girls' competitions.
Boys: Schoharie 85, Holy Trinity 23
The Schoharie boys' squad dominated the afternoon, securing 85 points to Holy Trinity's 23. The Indians showed overwhelming strength in the field and sprints, sweeping the podium in four separate events:
100m Dash: Kenny took first (11.5), followed by Jordan and Barham.
Long Jump: Florussen led the sweep with a jump of 19'6", followed by Maitland and McGough.
Triple Jump: Kenny earned his second win (34'9 3/4"), with Maitland and Okyay rounding out the top three.
High Jump: Florussen cleared 5'8" for the win, followed by Maitland and Kenny.
On the track, Stevens was a double-winner, taking both the 1600m (5:09.3) and the 800m (2:21.3). Jordan added a victory in the 200m (25.9), and Wray claimed the 400m (1:00).
Holy Trinity’s points came primarily from the throwing circle and distance running. Glover won the Discus with a throw of 104'8", while Mallary took first in the Shotput (40.3). Waters provided a bright spot on the track for the Wolves, winning the 3200m in 11:57.
Girls: Schoharie 55, Holy Trinity 33
The Schoharie girls secured a 55-33 win, bolstered by strong individual performances on the track. Okyay and Kenny each secured two individual wins for the Indians; Okyay swept the 1600m (6:24.1) and 800m (3:02), while Kenny took top honors in the 400m (1:05.3) and 200m (28.5). In the field, Dejong and Schweigard tied for first in the Pole Vault, both clearing 6'0".
Bri Repsher led the jumping events for Schoharie, winning the Triple Jump (28'4 1/2") and taking second in a highly competitive Long Jump.
Holy Trinity was led by Looknauth, who was a standout in both hurdles and throws. She won the 400m Intermediate Hurdles (1:20.5), the Discus (53'3"), and the Shotput (22'7"). Additionally, Pippert earned five points for the Wolves by winning the Long Jump with a mark of 13'7".
