Richfield Springs Outlasts Cherry Valley-Springfield in Narrow Road Victory
CHERRY VALLEY — S. Spencer delivered a standout performance on both sides of the ball Tuesday, leading Richfield Springs Central to a 6-5 victory over the Cherry Valley-Springfield Varsity Patriots.
Spencer earned the win on the mound, pitching a complete seven-inning game. He struck out eight batters while allowing eight hits and four earned runs over 109 pitches. At the plate, Spencer helped his own cause by going 3-for-3 with two runs scored and a stolen base.
Richfield Springs established an early lead, scoring single runs in each of the first three innings. The offense was further bolstered by I. Seamon, who went 2-for-4 with two RBIs and two stolen bases, and R. Constantinetis, who added a hit and an RBI. J. Bosc also contributed significantly, finishing 2-for-3 and scoring a run.
The Patriots mounted a strong challenge, briefly taking the lead with two runs in both the first and second innings. M. McGovern led the Cherry Valley-Springfield attack with a 3-for-4 performance and two runs scored. E. Fox drove in two runs on one hit, while S. Williams also recorded two RBIs.
Cherry Valley-Springfield starter B. Thayer pitched a complete game in the loss, striking out four and allowing three earned runs over seven innings. While the Patriots matched Richfield Springs with eight total hits, four defensive errors proved costly.
Richfield Springs displayed aggressive baserunning throughout the contest, totaling nine stolen bases. D. Butler and J. Bosc each recorded two steals, helping the visitors maintain pressure on the Patriots' defense.
The victory brings Richfield Springs Central to a 6-5 record for the 2026 season.
