Pickle Time in Margaretville

MARGARETVILLE - Seventh grade Home & Careers students at Margaretville Central School had a "dill-lightful" time this week making homemade refrigerator pickles in Laurel Becker’s class.

They enjoyed the experience so much that they were even sipping the brine through the dill stems, which had Ms. Becker absolutely chuckling. It’s safe to say this lesson was a hit!

Beyond the fun, this hands-on activity gave students the opportunity to:

* Practice essential knife skills

* Learn about growing their own food

* Explore ways to support local farmers

* Get a flavorful introduction to food preservation

Moments like these remind us that some of the best learning happens when students are engaged, curious, and having a little fun along the way.
