Mine Kill State Park to Host I Love My Park Day Event on Saturday, May 2 - Volunteers Participating at State Parks and Historic Sites Across New York
NORTH BLENHEIM – Mine Kill State Park will welcome volunteers for I Love My Park Day from 9am to 12pm on Saturday, May 2.
The event, a partnership between Parks & Trails New York, the New York State Office of Parks, Recreation and Historic Preservation, and the Department of Environmental Conservation, is the largest statewide volunteer event to enhance parks, historic sites and public lands and raise awareness and visibility to the state outdoor recreation assets and their needs. Volunteers will have the opportunity to participate in cleanup events at over 120 state parks, historic sites and public lands.
Volunteer registration begins at 9am at Mine Kill State Park. Projects include planting flowers and trees, performing trail maintenance and removing invasive species.
Volunteers should bring closed toe shoes, weather appropriate attire, environmental protection (sunscreen/bug spray), work/garden gloves and a water bottle.
After their hard work, volunteers will be treated to a barbecue lunch courtesy of park staff and Stewart’s Shops.
Those interested in volunteering at Mine Kill can register online at https://www.ptny.org/events/i-love-my-park-day/.
Local sponsorships and partnerships help make this event possible including Stewart’s Shops, Lowe's and The Home Depot.
