Junior Explorers: Playtime from the Past
SCHOHARIE — The Old Stone Fort Museum is excited to announce an upcoming Junior Explorers program all about making your own toys and games. Designed for young learners, this hands-on experience invites children to discover how fun and creativity thrived long before consoles and screens.
Step back in time and explore how children once made their own entertainment using simple, everyday materials. Participants will learn about historic toys and games, then create their own to take home. Along the way, they’ll spark their imagination, build problem-solving skills, and gain a new appreciation for the resourcefulness of the past.
It’s a playful journey where creativity meets history, and every child becomes a toy-making pioneer!
Two sessions of the Junior Explorers: DIY Toys and Games Lesson will be offered:
- Friday, May 1 at 10:00 AM
- Saturday, May 2 at 10:00 AM
Both sessions will take place at the Badgley Annex, located at 148 Fort Road in Schoharie, NY.
The program is recommended for children in 1st through 5th grade (ages 6-10), older and younger siblings are also welcome.
