Cobleskill Fire Department Accepts New Pumper/Tanker
Cobleskill Volunteer Fire Department has a new Rosenbauer Pumper Tanker truck.
COBLESKILL — After a multi-year project, the Cobleskill Volunteer Fire Department took delivery of our new Rosenbauer Pumper/Tanker truck on Tuesday, April 28th. The new truck is built on a 2025 freightliner chassis, with an automatic transmission which should allow for more drivers. It comes with a 1500 gallon per minute pump and has a custom tank that holds 3,000 gallons of water. The new truck is equipped with a portable folding pond to hold water, the ability to empty the water tank in three directions (driver side, passenger side or the back of the truck), ground ladders, hoses, and air packs for up to four firefighters with spare bottles, special lighting, ventilation and communications equipment. This versatile dual configuration allows the truck to shuttle water from a hydrant or pond/steam to the emergency location, or it can serve as the primary engine on a fire with the tool’s firefighters need and a larger reserve of water than one of our stand-alone engines.
In addition, the new truck has many safety features like back up cameras, multiple sensor systems and roll over protection for the driver and passenger. It replaces a manual transmission, 1993 Mack tanker truck that had a 2,500-gallon tank, smaller pump, many road miles and it did not have the additional ability to function as a front-line engine.
This new apparatus will now be outfitted with the final tools and equipment before being placed into service this spring. This purchase will not only help protect the Village residents but also our neighboring communities as departments across the county continue to rely on each other for help during emergencies. Please join us in thanking the previous and current Village Mayor / Board members along with the individuals and businesses in our fire district for supporting this purchase. We invite you to stop by the firehouse (located at 610 East Main Street Cobleskill, NY) during our drill on any second or third Wednesday evening of the month for a look at the new truck and ask any questions you may have. Applications will also be available if you are interested in joining our team as we are always looking for new members.
