WALTON — Sheriff Craig S. DuMond announced that an investigation into a one car motor vehicle accident has resulted in the arrest of a Hamden woman.

On February 19th, 2026, at approximately 11:48 P.M., Delaware County Sheriff's Deputies were dispatched to a one car motor vehicle accident in the area of New York State D.O.T. and the Delaware County Solid Waste Management Facility on State Highway 10, in the Town of Walton.

An investigation by Sheriff’s Deputies found that the driver of the vehicle, identified as 37-year-old Christina Lorusso, of Hamden, NY, was traveling in a northerly direction on the roadway leading to and from the Solid Waste Facility. Lorusso drove off the roadway and over an embankment, crashing into the State DOT perimeter fencing, causing her vehicle to become stuck.

Upon conclusion of the investigation, Sheriff’s Deputies arrested Lorusso and charged her with Driving While Intoxicated. She was also issued a traffic summons for Moving from Lane Unsafely.

Lorusso was released on summonses, directing her to appear in the Town of Walton Court at a later date, to answer the charges.

Additionally, on the morning of February 20th, 2026, Sheriff’s Deputies were notified by personnel from the Delaware County Solid Waste Facility that the front gate to the Facility was damaged by Lorusso’s vehicle. On February 26th, 2026, Sheriff’s Deputies located and issued an additional traffic summons to Lorusso for Leaving the Scene of a Property Damage Accident..
