SHARON SPRINGS — Bison Island Ranch in Sharon Springs is hosting their second annual Winter Fest this weekend with plenty of activities for the whole family!

Join on Saturday, February 21st from 12:00 PM until 4:00 PM for lots of family fun at The Ranch right in Sharon Springs. Meet up with friends, family, and neighbors for this special annual winter event!

“I do this for bison restoration.” offered Bison Island Ranch Owner Susan Golembeski, “This year as our country celebrates 250 years it is especially pertinent. The American bison is an iconic symbol of our country, which almost became extinct! Our Winter Fest is an invitation to our community, to bring people together and remind them of the year round work of bison restoration.”

With sledding for the kids, there will be plenty of fun and ways to stay warm too! Enjoy the bonfire with complimentary hot cocoa, hot tea, and s’mores!

At this special event, you’ll be able to purchase your favorite local beverages with New York State beer and wine featured, and non-alcoholic drinks too. Try some bison and learn first hand what the big deal is about! It’s a delicious and heart-healthy local red meat option that you can truly feel good about in all ways!

Listen to music and catch up with friends, play games like corn hole, and take bison throne photo ops with a real bison hide! The Ranch Store will also be open with bison meat, bison jerky, bison art, and the NEW bison tallow products like soap and personal care products too!

Did you know there are fewer than 500,000 bison in North America today? Restoring this keystone species to the landscape of Upstate New York is truly a passion for Bison Island. They are 100% committed to bringing the bison back while creating meaningful opportunities for people to connect with this majestic animal. They offer fun, year-round experiences that educate and inspire, from learning about the important role bison play in our ecosystem, to seeing first hand where your food comes from.

“I look forward to seeing you all this weekend! Wear your “winter coat” like a bison and remember, the bison all look absolutely stunning against the snow. Try bison, support local agriculture and be a part of bison restoration with us!” said Golemeski with excitement.
