GALLUPVILLE — Gallupville will be welcoming native son and well-known musician Wally Jones for a return concert.

The concert will be on Friday, June 12th 7pm at the Gallupville Methodist Church, where Jones said “it all began.” It was the location where sixty years ago Jones “played my first note in front of a crowd.”

The event will be the third return performance for Jones, he said. It will also feature a free-will collection and a strawberry shortcake refreshment. Money raised will go to the church and the Gallupville House.

Richard Sherman will have a series of players that day prior to Jones’ performance.

Violinist and fiddler Michelle Cenci of Slingerlands will also perform that day, said Jones.

“I was so surprised and honored,” Jones said.

“I thought we’d have a big splash,” he said. Jones reported that he is expected to play for an hour.

Jones has had a long career playing local establishments and churches.

“Everyplace I go, people are good to me,” he said.

There will also be the organ recital May 16th at the Community Church of Howes Cave in honor of the late Benjamin Frisch. Jones will play on both the piano and the organ.
