Walton Man Arrested after Bovina Car Theft

WALTON — Sheriff Craig S. DuMond announced the arrest of a Walton man following an investigation into a stolen vehicle complaint. 

On Thursday afternoon, January 29th, 2026, Sheriff’s Deputies were dispatched to a stolen vehicle complaint, in which the vehicle was reported stolen in the Town of Bovina and was later located in the Village of Walton. Deputies conducting the investigation developed information identifying the suspect as 35-year-old Shane Tweedie of Walton. 

Sheriff’s Deputies located Tweedie walking in the Village of Walton and took him into custody, charging him with one count of Unauthorized Use of a Motor Vehicle in the Third Degree, a class A misdemeanor, one count of Grand Larceny in the Third Degree, a class D felony, one count of Burglary in the Second Degree, a class C felony, one count of Criminal Contempt in the Second Degree, a class A misdemeanor and one count of Criminal Trespass in the Second Degree, a class A misdemeanor, all offenses of the New York State Penal Law. 

Upon completion of arrest processing, Tweedie was transported to the Delaware County Correctional Facility to await Centralized Arraignment Court.
