BREAKABEEN — The P. Keith Nelson Food Pantry is issuing an urgent call for volunteers as it continues to serve approximately 50 families each week. According to the Town of Fulton’s latest newsletter, help is desperately needed for both food pickup and distribution.
Located at 129A Clauverwie Road, adjacent to the Breakabeen Presbyterian Church, the pantry is open to anyone in need. For the remainder of April, the facility will operate on Saturdays from 10 a.m. to noon and on alternating Mondays from 4 p.m. to 5 p.m.
Emma, a pantry coordinator, said the facility welcomes donations but asks contributors to text her at 518-818-4015 to coordinate a drop-off time.
"I think that people should try to stick to things that we're not able to get easily like toilet paper, tissues or even dish soap," Emma said.
Supporters may also make monetary contributions by mailing them to 129 Clauverwie Road, Middleburgh, NY 12122, or by dropping them off at the pantry after scheduling a time via text. The organization provides donation letters for tax purposes.
In addition to distribution help, the pantry is seeking individuals for "hands-on" training in the dry goods section. James Schilling is available on Sunday afternoons to train volunteers on how to stock tables and prepare boxes. Interested participants can contact him via text only at 518-603-8292.
