DELHI – Volunteers gathered signatures over the past six weeks to get Michele Frazier’s (D-Delhi) name on the ballot in November The Frazier campaign delivered 3,778 signatures to Albany: nearly 3.8 times the legally required amount of 1,000 signatures.

“I am both grateful and humbled that so many volunteers throughout District 51 took time away from their families and busy lives to gather signatures on my behalf and often spent their own money on gas as they drove around to get those signatures. The number they delivered far exceeded my expectations. When I arrive in Albany, I’ll be working just as hard for every one of them, and for every other resident because rural New Yorkers deserve the best from their elected leaders,” said Frazier.

Gathering signatures for what are known as Designating Petitions is part of a legally required process for every candidate for office in New York State. NYS Senate candidates must obtain 1,000 signatures to get on the ballot as either a Democrat or Republican. In the case of Frazier, seeking the Democratic line, all signatures must be from registered Democrats who reside in the 7-county region comprising NYS Senate District 51, which includes all of Otsego, Delaware, Schoharie and Sullivan Counties, and portions of Chenango, Broome, and Ulster Counties.
