COBLESKILL — Veterans Park will soon receive a fresh new look, thanks to funding from the December to Remember initiative and a recently approved grant. The improvements are scheduled to begin this spring and will bring new plantings and lighting to the well‑used community space.
As part of the project, 15 forsythia perennials will be planted throughout the park. SUNY Cobleskill students are expected to assist with the planting in May, adding a hands‑on educational component to the beautification effort.
The grant, approved last month, is covering the cost of the new plantings. Local organizers say the upgrades are designed to enhance the park’s appearance while creating a more welcoming environment for residents and visitors.
In addition to the landscaping, the park will also receive new LED lighting. The lights will be installed in several key areas and are expected to brighten the space and improve visibility. Officials noted that the lighting plan is still evolving, describing it as a “work in progress” as they finalize placement and design.
The improvements are expected to bring new life to Veterans Park just in time for the warmer months, offering the community a refreshed and more vibrant public space.
