CARLISLE — The Carlisle Historical Society meets at the Carlisle Town Hall, 541 Crommie Road on the second Wednesday of April, May and June at 7 PM. Our evening programs feature speakers with interesting historical topics, lots of visiting with friends and neighbors, legendary snacks made by excellent bakers afterward.

All are welcome! Please pass the info on to anyone you feel would be interested in our programs.

On May 9 we will hold our Annual Carlisle Birding Tour. This popular event will start at 6 AM at the Carlisle Town Hall, 541 Crommie Road. We will carpool/caravan to several birding hotspots in our town, see or hear as many birds as we can, then head back to the Town Hall for coffee and snacks and to tally up our official list for the year.

Wear warm clothes and bring your binoculars. Veteran birders will assist you with finding and IDing the birds. Hopefully, you'll get a few "lifers" for your list! All levels of birders are welcome!

On May 13 we will host Kayla Whitehouse from the National Bottle Museum in Ballston Spa. Kayla will present "The Queens of Quackery" a discussion about female proprietors of patent medicines in the 19th and 20th centuries.

Our final program for the spring will be June 10. Bill Combs, who spearheaded the project, will present the story of the Schoharie Eagle Trail and show some of his outstanding photographs.

The Carlisle Historical Society is entering its 19th year of preserving Carlisle’s history and providing public programs for the entertainment and interests of all. We hold public meetings seven times a year, starting in April. Membership to CHS is only $10.00 per year for an individual or a family.
