Traditionally Speaking by Pat Larsen - Considering Home Health Care

The questions come fast and furious when we or a loved one requires unexpected  health care at home.  That anxiety often drives us to make decisions or choices that we haven’t researched adequately and we all know that then can lead to unwanted consequences.

As a retired health care provider, I also can find myself uncertain as to how to proceed even though I have many contacts in my field or friends willing to give me suggestions when and if an emergency arises unexpectedly.

Here’s an idea that you may consider now before that 11th hour presents itself.

There is an agency, Aroundtheclockihomecare.org that has been named Delaware Counties Chamber of Commerce NEW BUSINESS of the YEAR that is offering home health care services that are helping its patients and families to make these decisions so much easier.

This agency does the hard work in advance.

Their goal is to make home life easier by helping you find the right professionals to meet your needs at home.

“Around the clock” maintains a current Nurse registry of those professionals who desire to work with the population who needs at-home care.

Their professional registry also includes companion helpers (non medical individuals who are “hands off”)  but who facilitate assisting patients with activities at home in order to help their clients to continue living at home.

Companion help could include meal prep, assistance with lite house keeping, laundry, accompaniment to outings, appointments, socialization, medication reminders and AM and PM routines reminders.

These activities are determined between the patient and the helper in advance.

For older clients who may be considering a nursing home placement after surgery, it may make sense to consider someone for at-home placement with support which could mean a more affordable option to consider after a surgery.

Providers can be referred for short term services or as needed.

At Home services maintains an extensive list of nurse providers and helpers for assistance at home.

The goal of this agency is admirable considering most want to maintain their dignity and do that in their homes for as long as they are able. Not to mention being able to have the companionship of their beloved pets while they are in recovery.

I’m very happy to recommend this agency and I encourage those who might be in need and beginning the research to find the best care for themselves or their loved one to consider this one.

Check out their web site and take a moment to read the client reviews.

I think you’ll be as impressed as I was with the amount of support offered by this agency.
