STAMFORD — The Roxbury Arts Group thrilled to announce the 2026 Local Lens Short Film Showcase, featuring 5 exceptional short films by 3 local filmmakers. The Local Lens Short Film Showcase will take place on Friday April 10, 2026 from 7-9p at the Headwater Arts Center in Stamford, NY, the event is Free but there will be concessions offered for sale. Featured filmmakers include Richard Stephen Bell of Denver, NY, Elizabeth Ennis of Roscoe, NY and Nathan Meltz of Stamford, NY each of whom will be available for a Q&A session after their film screening. Nathan Meltz’s Golem Trilogy will be screened with a live music score.
Five Short Films by Three Filmmakers:
"Waiting for Aphrodite" by Richard Stephen Bell Writer/Director Richard Stephen Bell (Denver, NY) brings his award-winning short film, currently touring festivals in NYC, LA, and beyond. Founded through his nonprofit CinemaEd, which trains underserved student filmmakers, this production features a professional cast including Meredith Rush-Bell, Martin Fisher, and Claudia Robinson, with cinematography by Matt Simpkins.
"Field Cam" by Elizabeth Ennis Roscoe-based filmmaker Elizabeth Ennis explores the consequences of COVID lockdown through her distinctive lens that finds beauty in nature's duality. Writer, director, and actor Ennis collaborates with Douglas LaFrenier in this compelling short.
The Golem Trilogy by Nathan Meltz Experience three experimental films—"The Golem Returns," "The Golem Smashes All Walls," and "Destroy the Golem"—by printmaker and animator Nathan Meltz (Stamford, NY). Sound and image by Meltz, with live musical score by: Steve Hammond, Adam Elabd, Mark Wolfe and Nathan Meltz.
From award-winning narrative shorts to experimental animation, Local Lens showcases the incredible talent creating films right here in the Catskills.
