PRATTSVILLE – Happy Easter again but it is Easter Season just not one day of observances. Do celebrate and take heart. Most homes had extra cars in their driveway indicating the extra people around the dining room table.

The Annual Easter Egg Hunt at Youngs’ Ace Hardware Store was a success, going off without a hitch. Sorry parents for giving your children a chocolate “high” for the weekend. But it is the season for rejoicing and glad we, the American Legion Auxiliary Virgil E. Deyo Unit 1327 and the Young family and staff, could bring some smiles and memories to your children and family. Happy Easter. The Auxiliary want to thank the Youngs and staff for the use of the facilities, assistance with the Hunt. Peggy assisted in this event to a great degree, making sure things ran smoothly and assisting with everything. Thanks Peg. This annual event would not be possible without the Youngs. This year we got to share with our neighbors in the Windham area. A lady offered to take the large bag of candy filled eggs not distributed to St. Theresa’s in Windham for others to enjoy, compliments of ALA Unit 1327 and the Youngs. Did not get the lady’s name but we thank her herewith.

It is a joy when your grandchildren’s contemporaries remember you with hugs and kisses, and conversations. Luke and Shannon Brainerd Holdridge, enjoyed the hugs and kisses, time and conversations with you. You did spread the holiday sentiments. They shared the good news that Shannon’s dad, Randy Brainerd, is doing nicely after his most recent trip to the health facility. Stay well wishes to Randy.

Got to see some of the ladies from the Barry/Baker family over the weekend. Samantha said that the Barry/Baker families had made sure her grandmother Mary Barry was feted royally on her 95th birthday. All the family members made sure Mary had a memorable birthday on April 4. Had not seen Kathy Barry in years but recognized her, with her niece Stephanie, at St. Philip Neri RC for Easter Mass. Good to see you Kathy. Also at St. Philip’s was Joanne Lane with sister Terrie Lane Clark. Do miss all the Lane family

The Reform Church of Prattsville had a very successful Bake Sale on Saturday, selling out before noon. Bake Sales are an opportune event just before a holiday, and in this instance, Easter Sunday. Gave the bakers in the family a break plus less clean up after the fact. So, kind wishes to the Reform Church for a break and glad of your success.

Claudia Bracaliello, who is still on the get well wish list, continues to make her famous cinnamon rolls for her Church’s bake sale as well as for other bake sales she has connections with. Just missed out being able to purchase them and I know who the purchaser was and they could not go to a better person. Enjoy the rolls R.

Speaking of better persons, so impressed with Nolan Young, son of John and Jessica Lane Young. Only get to see him once in a while but he did not hesitate to give an Easter hug, accompanied by a great smile. Nolan, you have a terrific hair style. Keep it!! Then there is Adalyn, his older sister, who is somewhat shy. Her grandmother Peg Young is teaching her to knit and the reports are that she is not only knitting put purling as well. These talents are accompanied by an innate talent. Her grandmother Peg is descended from the Deyo French Heugunots who were known from their craftsmanship in sewing and all crafts associated with needlework. I do believe those crafts are evident in many of these family members.

The monthly meeting of the American Legion Auxiliary Virgil E. Deyo Unit 1327 will take place on Tuesday, April 14, 7 PM, at the Prattsville Town Hall. Please attend to be informed of the upcoming spring events the Unit will be participating in. Stay informed of events and activities.

Well it was April 1 on Wednesday and the DEC were stocking the Schoharie Creek, starting in Lexington. Local fisherman Bob Hermance tried his luck, nothing the first day but got enough on another day for Saturday night dinner. Then Bob and Debbie shared Easter dinner with Louie and Nancy Hermance Kizyma. This dinner was lamb accompanied by ham and all the various side dishes. The nine diners shared conversation, fun and food to make the day complete.

Happy Birthday to Crystal Soule Cornell and Gabriela Ramundo on April 11. On April 13 we wish a very Happy Birthday to Ashleigh Jaeger Carr. Happy Birthday to Kendall Thorington on April 15.
