PRATTSVILLE – HAPPY EASTER. May yours be filled with Peace and Love.

To all our military and veterans, thank you for your service. To our voluntary organizations, health and care givers, EMTs, etc. Thank you to all and may your Easter season be joyous.

Prattsville’s two newest businesses are now open and ready for your business and support. Faith’s Beauty Salon and the Catskill Mountain Liquor Store will welcome you and invite you to stop by and check out their services and wares. Lets support all things Prattsville.

A reflection of that is the Annual Easter Egg Hunt on Saturday, April 4, 11 AM, at Youngs’ Ace Hardware, sponsored by the American Legion Auxiliary Virgil E. Deyo Unit 1327. With your support of Unit 1327 and Youngs Ace Hardware, the Easter Egg Hunt is a free event for your children. There are hundreds of Easter Eggs with ten Golden Eggs, a number in each age group, for a very special surprise to the lucky children who find them. Good Hunting and good luck to the children. In preparation of this event, Auxiliary members Shelly Brainard, Marianne Krauss, Cathy Martino, and Ginny Gurley met at the home of member Nancy Kizyma in Lexington to stuff hundreds and hundreds of Easter Eggs with top notch quality candy, plus the Golden Eggs on Thursday, the 26th. Nancy provided snacks and beverages for all and everyone had information to exchange. Memories of local history were exchanged and Nancy shared some of her knowledge on collectibles. She can find the value of anything collectible and has found those hidden treasures.

All reports are that the Gilboa Conesville Drama Club did it again with their presentation of “Shrek Jr.”. It was well attended, as always, well received, and those attending were royally entertained. Good show and kudos to our Darcy Jaeger-Brand for her ongoing successes in these plays.

The Reform Church of Prattsville will be holding their semi-annual Bake Sale at Jim’s Great American on Saturday, April 4, beginning at 9 AM until noon. Baked goods and donations are appreciated. We thank the Church for having their bake sale at such an opportune time. Our bakers in the family can have an easier Easter Sunday with the delicious goodies being baked for them. Come early for your choice of items.

Sympathy to the Kevin Piccoli family and the recent passing of his mother. Love and prayers Kevin and all. Prayers and condolences to the family of Patricia Brainerd, twin sister of the late Richie Brainerd.

Heard from Donnie Speenburgh in regards to the information from Pat Law DeSain. He is related to the Speenburghs, Elwood and Flossie, who used to live on Wright Street. They had four sons, Jim, Ed, David and Timmy, all now deceased. Don’s parents were Welcome and Myrtle Rodgers Speenburgh. Don had three Speenburgh aunts: Ida (Mrs. Hawkeye), Grace Rion and Lillian. Trying to come up with those who may be still with us who would remembered these people. Maybe the following: Phyllis Raeder, Ginny Kennedy, Kip Rikard or Elliott Brainard?? can help fill in the blanks. Many of the aforesaid men worked for Carman Trucking in some form or another. Donnie also said he was related to the Cases and Brinks of Ashland/Windham and the Rodgers of Conesville/Manorkill. Don and Theresa supported the benefit held at the Grand Gorge Fire Hall for a person who can use assistance with health issues.. By the way, does anyone know the origin of the “Wright” in Wright Street?

Speedy recovery to Randy Brainerd. Sincerely wishes that your stay will put you back on your feet for an early return to your home. Got to be well and in good condition for that upcoming wedding of son Brandon and his fiancee Faith.

Happy Birthday to Bobby Gurley on April 8. Need some more birthday and anniversary dates so we have something to celebrate.
