Fleischmanns continues its steady turn into spring, with more activity returning to Main Street, a growing number of events on the calendar, and the first real signs of the busy season beginning to take shape.

On the local business side, Two Stones Farm Store on Main Street has announced that starting in May, the shop will once again offer homemade pies, breads, bagels, and a rotating selection of baked goods, adding another layer of locally made food options in the village.

Wax & Wild is moving toward its official opening ahead of Mother’s Day and has introduced Wild Sprouts, a new series of hands-on workshops for children focused on plants, creativity, and seasonal growing.

The first session, Paint and Plant for Mom, will take place on May 3 at 12 p.m. at 1084 Main Street. Designed for ages 3 and up, the workshop will walk participants through decorating a 5” ceramic pot before planting a houseplant to bring home. Each kit includes paint, brushes, materials, soil, and a plant, along with light snacks and refreshments during the event. Finished pots will be sealed on-site and taken home the same day. Reservations are available through Wax & Wild or by emailing hello@waxandwild.com.

Later that week, Wax & Wild will host a floral arrangement workshop at The Print House on Thursday, May 7 at 6 p.m. The evening session will guide participants through building their own arrangement using a mason jar vase, handmade flower frog lid, tools, and seasonal stems. Light fare and drinks will be served, and the event is designed as a relaxed, social workshop. Reservations are also available via Wax & Wild.

Community programming continues to build as well. SAN MUL will host a kimchi workshop on Sunday, May 3 at 12 p.m., focused on seasonal ingredients including dandelion and ramp kimchi. Tickets and details are available at eastbranchfarms.com.

That same morning, the annual Earth Day Village Cleanup will begin at 10 a.m., bringing volunteers together to help clean up roads, sidewalks, and public spaces throughout the village. A community barbecue will follow at noon in the park, hosted by the Mayor and Board of Trustees. Supplies will be provided for all participants, and residents are encouraged to join in.

At Doolittle’s, the spring book fair continues through the week, following a reading by Bill Birns from Fleischmanns in Verse last Sunday. The fair will wrap up this Saturday with a children’s story hour at 4 p.m., closing out a week of programming in support of the Skene Memorial Library.

1053 Gallery is also in its final days of Three Mystics, a video installation by Tessa Hughes Freeland, on view through the weekend.

Mark Birman has announced that 1053 Gallery will again serve as the lead sponsor of the AMR Artists Tour this summer, continuing its support of the regional arts program. A kickoff party is planned for July 23, with additional details to be announced in the coming weeks.

Looking ahead, anticipation is building for the Fleischmanns Street Fair on Sunday, May 24, which now includes more than 80 vendors and continues to grow. Organizers are still accepting last-minute applications, which can be directed to Janine at janine@marketparty.org.

Seasonal shifts are also becoming more visible in the surrounding landscape.  Madalyn Warren from San Mul notes that recent frost affected early forsythia blooms, while ramp season is now underway in nearby forests. Foragers are encouraged to harvest responsibly and take only what they need.

Taken together, these updates reflect a village moving steadily into the season, with activity building in small but consistent ways as spring continues.
