PRATTSVILLE – We must send out special thanks and appreciation to all our civil workers who are keeping us safe and allowing us to continue on with our normal lives of going grocery shopping, trips to the Post Office and hardware stores and those ever ongoing doctors appointments. Along with those aforementioned, we thank our law enforcement officers, firemen and EMTs. You are appreciated and needed. As always we thank our active military and all veterans – you are why we have our freedoms.

With ongoing new and old strains of viruses, old fashioned sniffles and other winter ailments, plus the fearsome winter weather, everyone has been keeping close to home and not doing much traveling or visiting. Snow is fearless so stay home and stay safe, catch up on your reading and binge watch those endless TV shows.

Get well wishes to all who are feeling less than one hundred percent. Prayers and best wishes to you

Nancy and Louie Kizyma were planning a trip to Long Island to visit their daughter and her family but with the predicted blizzard and traveling hazards, they called it off until a later date. They were sure they could make the road trip there safely but were afraid they would not be able to return in time for Louie to be a work on Tuesday. Smart move. Yes, your family will miss you but you can always have another visit when the weather is better.

Our American Legion Virgil E. Deyo Post 1327 and American Legion Auxiliary Virgil E. Deyo Unit 1327 made the Opinion Page of the Schenectady Gazette under their heading of “Editorial” on January 16, 2026. Camilla Wyckoff of Schenectady sent the clipping to me. She also thanks us “...Thank you for all you do – definitely making this world a better place for sure. Best wishes to all God Bless….Sincerely Camilla Wyckoff” We became correspondents for the Memorial for Gary Ramunda, thanks to his widow Kathy and son Matthew, who so generously named the Post and Unit as beneficiaries for Gary’s Memorial. These generous funds were used for the 2025 Annual VA Christmas Celebration for 39 veterans at the Stratton VAMC, Albany on December 9, 2025. The clipping reads: “In Albany, American Legion Virgil E. Deyo Post 1327 and American Legion Auxiliary Virgil E. Deyo Unit 1327, Prattsville, recently visited the Stratton VAMC, in Albany to share Christmas gifts with the veterans. The visit was part of the annual VA Christmas Celebration. Legion [and Auxiliary] members hand-delivered gift bags each filled with 24 gifts, to 39 veterans. For information on the Stratton veterans center, visit https://www.gov/albany-health-care/locations/samuel-s-stratton-department-of-veterans-affairs-medical-center/” Thank you Camilla for your generosity and for staying in touch and forwarding “good news” to us. The Post and Unit again send their thanks to all for your generous and ongoing support of our veterans, in or out of VA facilities. The Unit and Post were also able to assist ten local veterans and/or their families for the 2025 Holiday Season because of local support for Unit 1327 Veterans Day Bake Sale.
