WINDHAM – Windham Ashland-Jewett (WAJ) topped South Kortright/Andes (SK/A) 11-3 Tuesday.
According to information from SK/A Coach Dawn Brown, WAJ had a big seventh inning.
The Lady Rams had the lead in the bottom of the second inning and WAJ tied the game 1-1 in the top of the fourth. Christine Eilenberger executed a sacrifice bunt for WAJ giving the a 2-1 lead in the top of the fifth. It was in the seventh inning that WAJ widened the score, scoring seven runs on five hits.
SK/A pitch Neleh Brown took the mound first for the Rams, giving up 11 runs (nine earned). She struck out six batters and had two walks in the loss.
WAJ’s Hannah Tuttle had a whopping 20 strikeouts for the Wildcats and walked a single batter.
“Tuttle is going to play D2 softball,” said Brown. “She’s fast and it was tough for the girls to get a bat on it.”
SK/A’s Lilly Temple and Alyssa Tucker each had one hit for the Rams.
