SHARON SPRINGS — The Sharon Springs Free Library in Sharon Springs has lots to offer in the coming weeks. This much valued Library Program is welcome to all!
Here is an update:
Ready for S.C.H.O.O.L.? We have course booklets at the library on how to register for the more than 75 in-person and virtual classes offered. S.C.H.O.O.L is a member-directed learning group, supported locally by SUNY Cobleskill through the Office of the Institute of Rural Vitality. Registration for the 2026 S.C.H.O.O.L. Spring Semester opened on February 1.
Just in time for ‘Love Your Library Month’, the Award-winning documentary “The Librarians” premieres on February 9 and can be streamed anytime on PBS. The documentary examines how restrictions on library content are shaping communities in Texas, Florida, and the impact on librarians and libraries across the United States.
Winter break starts the week of February 16. We are planning fun and engaging activities for kids on Tuesday-Friday. Drop your kids off or stay with them for Lego Challenge, Game Day, Story Time and Yoga Kids. There’s something for everyone. Visit our website for details.
Mark your calendar for the return of Sled Dog Day in the Community Room on March 14 at 11 AM. Many of us don’t want more snow, but we hope there will be some for this fun annual event led by local businesswoman, Kate Walrath. Details to come.
Starting your spring cleaning early? Donate your gently used books to our annual Great Book Giveaway on April 11, 2026. We welcome hard copy and paperback books, fiction and non-fiction. Children’s books are especially welcome. Drop off books during library hours.
The library continues to maintain a food bank in its lobby, along with a winter clothing exchange.
Please feel free to visit the lobby any time during library hours: 10 to 6 PM Monday and
Thursday, 1 to 6 PM Tuesday, Wednesday, and Friday, and 10 to 1 PM on Saturday.
Always wondered what it would be like to work in a library? We’re searching for a Director to help us continue serving the community. Details are on the website.
Remember: Story Time is at 10:00 AM with Ms. JoAnn on Thursday mornings and includes a story, craft and/or activity!
