SEWARD — On March 9, 2026, there was a Town of Seward Board meeting. The meeting room was packed. A great sight to see. Please stay tuned for the Republican and Democratic Caucasus coming. The whole Board was in attendance.  The meeting was called to order at 6:30 p.m. then the Pledge of Allegiance.

There were three requests on the floor to speak. First was Mark Christman, second Duane Spaulding and third Jyline Varin. The Board and Town members listened to each request. There will be a sanitary situation being looked into. As well as a possible new location  for a hydrant in our town. One request was a unanimous no to the request.

The Supervisor,  Mark Fletcher, read his report for January 2026, and February 2026. They were both approved. Highway Superintendent,  Chad Evans, read his report and requests.  Mr. Evans is working on a grant for sand and salt storage. He also attended a lobbying day on March 4, to get the town more Consolidated Highway (CHIPS) money.  There is a new part- time employee,  Kevin Spaulding.  One driver has left. Good luck to Ralph Bellinger with his new employment. The new truck should also arrive this month. Mr. Evans' report was approved.

Mr. Fletcher then read the Town Clerk report that was approved. The Town is whole in taxes. Mr. Fletcher read the Assessor report, and it was accepted.  The last report read by Mr. Fletcher was the Dog Officer's, thus was also approved. Code Enforcement was at the meeting to give a verbal report. He will be in the office Friday if anyone needs him. His report was approved.

There is a new Justice for the town,  Judge Hadsell. He will take over shortly; but until he does, the court will stay as it is for the town. The Board  listened to a request for a letter to submit for Farmland Protection Implementation Grant, more information will need to be gathered.

Issue tracking was able to get rid of the Fire Alarm issue. We have a new system,  with new instructions and people to reach out to. Mr. Harlow also requested to redo the flag pole at the Seward Town Park. He would also like a flag pole at the Town Building.  If you have a possible micro-project that you think would be good for the town, please come to the next meeting  on April 13, 2026 at 6:30 p.m.
