SCHOHARIE — The Schoharie County Republican Caucus Committee unanimously nominated America’s Assemblyman, our Assemblyman Christopher Tague on Monday, February 23, as the Republican candidate for the New York State Senate in the 51st Senate District. He will be replacing Senator Peter Oberacker who is running for Congress in New York’s 19th Congressional district. Committee members cited Tague’s legislative experience, proven leadership, and sent the message that Schoharie County is Tague Country. Tague said he hopes to “keep common sense in Albany” while continuing to advocate for the needs of the district.
With Tague seeking a Senate seat, the committee unanimously endorsed Marcus Molinaro to run for the New York State Assembly in the 102nd District. Molinaro’s extensive experience across multiple levels of government was highlighted as a key strength. Supporters noted his legislative initiatives and prior work with former Congressman and former gubernatorial candidate as evidence of his readiness to represent the district.
The committee unanimously endorsed Assemblyman Robert Smullen as its nominee for the U.S. House of Representatives in New York’s 21st Congressional District, a seat currently held by Rep. Elise Stefanik. Smullen, who previously served in the Marine Corps and held federal appointments, emphasized his background in military and government leadership. He pointed to his record of strong grassroots support and his focus on national security, government accountability, and policies that “put the country first.”
Schoharie County also approved and endorsed New York Republican state Committee’s slate of statewide candidates led by Nassau County executive Bruce Blakeman for Governor.
Chris Tague said it was a great meeting. Schoharie County Republicans are fired up and ready to turn NYS around and elect Common Sense Republicans up and down the ballot this November to help save New York.
