SCHOHARIE - The Schoharie County Historical Society (SCHS) is pleased to announce the launch of a new mini-grant program to support community events, programs, and projects commemorating the upcoming 250th anniversary of the American Revolution.
Funded through the New York State Education Department (NYSED), this initiative will provide financial support for local organizations to develop programming tied to the themes of the “NY 250” or the “Unfinished Revolution,” with a focus on fostering civic engagement and community participation.
SCHS will administer approximately $10,000 in funding through a competitive application process. Grants of up to $2,000 per project will be awarded to support a wide range of activities, celebrations, and events.
Eligible applicants include, but are not limited to, schools, libraries, historical societies, municipalities, civic and service organizations, and other community groups. All funded programs must be free and open to the public. Only programs and projects taking place within Schoharie County will be considered for funding. All awards are contingent upon the receipt and continued availability of funds from the New York State Education Department (NYSED).
Applications will be reviewed on a rolling basis, with priority given to those submitted by May 15, 2026, as funding is limited. All funded activities must be completed and reported by August 14, 2026, unless otherwise approved.
Funding will be distributed on a reimbursement basis unless otherwise approved, and awardees will be required to submit receipts and a final report. Additional requirements include public promotion of events through the I Love NY calendar and incorporation of NY 250 branding.
