SCHOHARIE — A non-league baseball matchup between Schenevus and the Schoharie Storm was cut short last Thursday afternoon as lightning and thunder forced officials to call the game after five innings. Schenevus Central walked away with a 2-0 victory in the rain-shortened affair.

Despite a strong outing from Schoharie starting pitcher Trevor Barrett, the Storm was unable to provide any run support. Barrett threw 59 pitches over the course of the game, recording three strikeouts while allowing only one hit and two walks. He effectively challenged Schenevus hitters, generating 10 swinging strikes and keeping 60% of balls in play on the ground.

Schenevus managed to capitalize on their limited opportunities, with one run scoring as a direct result of a walk. In total, Schoharie pitchers issued three walks and stranded seven Schenevus runners on base.

The Storm's offense struggled to find a rhythm against Schenevus pitching. While Schoharie baserunners were aggressive, stealing seven bases in eight attempts, the team ultimately stranded nine runners. The lineup failed to produce in clutch moments, finishing the day with zero two-out RBIs.

Schoharie hitters also found themselves consistently behind in the count, facing a first-pitch strike in 14 of their 24 at-bats. Only two leadoff hitters managed to reach base safely for the Storm throughout the five innings played.

The game concluded with Schoharie unable to bridge the two-run gap before the local weather conditions deemed the field unplayable.
