HUNTER-TANNERSVILLE- The Stamford-Jefferson (S-J) girls varsity squad defeated Hunter-Tannersville (H-T) 61-23 on the road Tuesday.
S-J senior McKenna Hoyt had a double-double with 12 rebounds and 31 points enroute to claiming the Delaware League scoring record.
Teammate Tierney Turner dropped 19 points in the win.
S-J Coach George Nebesnik said additional standouts on the court also included Lillian and Emily Eklund.
“We were very good early,” said Nebesnik of the game. “We jumped out to a big lead (38-7 at the half) and we had a big third quarter, it was 55-11 going into the fourth quarter. We were good on both ends of the floor both offensively and defensively.”
As of Tuesday, the S-J girls have a 14-1 overall record and are 7-0 in the Delaware League.
