STAMFORD — Thoughtfully timed with the season of Lent, a four‑week community reading and discussion series begins Saturday, February 28th, at 11am. Area residents are invited to gather for an exploration of He Leadeth Me, the widely respected spiritual memoir by Jesuit priest Fr. Walter J. Ciszek, S.J.
Ciszek’s memoir recounts his years of imprisonment and forced labor in Soviet Russia and the unexpected depths of faith he discovered during that time. More than a historical narrative, the book offers a contemplative look at trust, surrender, resilience, and the quiet presence of grace amid life’s most challenging circumstances.
The series is designed for readers of all backgrounds—whether newcomers to the book or those revisiting it with fresh eyes. Each one‑hour session will include guided reflections, conversation, and space for participants to consider how the book’s themes resonate in their own lives.
Participants will delve into a range of thoughtful themes throughout the series. Conversations may touch on how faith can take root and even deepen during seasons of hardship, and how individuals navigate the tension between letting go and taking control of life’s direction. The group will also explore the ways meaning and inner freedom can emerge even in the most difficult or restrictive circumstances. Discussions may consider the quiet but powerful role of humility and service in daily life, as well as the many places—large and small—where hope can be found and sustained.
