Personnel Officer Carrara Knoetgen informs supervisors of changes to the employee deferred compensation plan.

DELHI - Delaware County Supervisors recognized National Public Health Week during a brief meeting on March 25th. The week will be observed from April 6th to the 12th, with the theme Ready, Set, Action.

The resolution states that rural communities are aging and face a range of social determinants of health, such as poverty, transportation barriers, and limited affordable housing. Rural communities are creative, resourceful, and value a sense of community. We must continue to remove barriers and utilize new approaches to improving health for all ages.

In passing the resolution, supervisors vow to expand access to care and to prioritize the equitable distribution of public health resources, among other initiatives.

The week was set to honor public health work, advocate for policies and practices, celebrate accomplishments, and bring a renewed focus to future work.

In another discussion, supervisors approved updates to the deferred compensation model plan. Personnel Officer Carrara Knoetgen said the state revises the recommendations, and the county can determine what to adopt. The major change to the plan is offering a Roth IRA, which permits tax-free growth and withdrawals for retirement.

“That’s a good advantage for our employees,” said Hamden Supervisor Wayne Marshfield.

Ten caseworkers from the Youth Bureau were transferred to the Department of Social Services umbrella for salary and benefits. There will be no financial impact, said Marshfield. The transfer was made to streamline financial administration.

Supervisors paid $2,096,964.81 in monthly bills. Accrued costs were related to road and bridge repairs, capital projects, and solid waste and landfill fees.

Deposit Supervisor Rebecca Walley and Harpersfield Supervisor Lisa Driscoll were absent.

The next regular Board of Supervisors meeting is scheduled Wednesday, April 8, at 1 p.m.
