DELHI – Delaware County District Attorney Shawn J. Smith announced today that Stanley Suchy, 79, of Stamfordk was sentenced to 10 years of incarceration and 20 years of post-release supervision in Delaware County Court on April 21.
Suchy appeared before the Honorable John L. Hubbard for sentencing. He had previously pleaded guilty to Course of Sexual Conduct Against a Child, a Class B Felony in Delaware County Court on April 7, 2026.
Prior to the sentence being imposed, Suchy stated that he was sorry for all the harm he caused to the child and to his entire family. Judge Hubbard sentenced the defendant to 10 years in prison to be followed by 20 years of post-release supervision. He was remanded to the Delaware County Correctional Facility to begin his sentence.
District Attorney Smith commended Investigator Adam Cernauskas of the New York State Police for his thorough investigation into this case. He also thanked New York State Police Crime Advocate Nicole Sheehan as well as the staff at Safe Against Violence for their advocacy work on the case.
