Ron Ketelsen, Sharon Springs Historian discussed the pros and cons of using AI at the Schoharie County Historians meeting at Judd Hall in Jefferson
JEFFERSON — Judd Hall in Jefferson was buzzing with energy on Saturday, April 18, as twenty‑nine local historians came together for a day of learning, conversation, and community. Hosted by Jefferson Historical Society President Kevin Berner, the gathering centered on how artificial intelligence is shaping the future of historical preservation.
Ron Ketelsen, President of the Sharon Springs Historical Society, delivered the keynote address. With clarity and enthusiasm, he walked attendees through the pros and cons of AI and demonstrated how it can be used to enhance presentations and strengthen historical storytelling. His approachable style helped many feel more confident about using new technology.
Clay Edmunds of the Schoharie County Historical Society also shared insights into “Our Story Bridge,” explaining how the project was created and preserved for the historical record.
The day was filled with thoughtful discussion, shared challenges, and plenty of new ideas. Adding to the welcoming atmosphere, the Middle Brook Café in Jefferson donated delicious desserts and refreshments. The café will be celebrating its grand opening soon.
