Thursday, April 2 there will be a Holy Thursday Soup and Bread Supper at the Windham-Hensonville UMC, 5296 Main Street, Windham at 5 p.m. followed with a worship service at 7 p.m.

The Kaaterskill UMC, 5942 Main Street, Tannersville will hold a Good Friday, April 3 service at 7:15 p.m.

Easter Sunday, April 5 services:

Sunrise Service in the Lexington Cemetery at 6:45 a.m. followed with an Easter Breakfast in Fellowship Hall, Lexington/West Kill UMC, 54 County Route 13A, Lexington. There is no 9 a.m. worship service in Lexington/West Kill UMC.

Sunrise Service also at 6:45 a.m. in Twilight Park.

Easter Sunday worship services are in the Ashland Community UMC at 9 a.m., Lanesville UMC at 9:30 a.m.; Kaaterskill UMC, Tannersville at 10:30 a.m.; Windham-Hensonville UMC at 11 a.m.

The annual Easter Egg Hunt will be held Saturday, April 4 at 11 a.m. at Young’s Ace Hardware in Prattsville.  The Easter Bunny will be there too.  Children and adults are all welcomed.  There will be stuffed eggs galore, no charge, rain or shine.   Sponsored by the American Legion Unit 1327 and its many friends and supporters.

The Ashland Fire Department and Ladies Auxiliary are having an All You Can Eat Breakfast on Saturday, April 11 from 7:30 a.m. to 11:30 a.m. at the Ashland Firehouse, 12094 State Route 23, Ashland for a free-will offering, eat in or takeout.  Breakfast sandwich on hard roll with choice of bacon or sausage, American cheese, side of home fries; eggs, bacon, sausage, home fries, pancakes, french toast, toast, biscuits and gravy, local maple syrup, orange juice, apple juice, cranberry juice, coffee, tea, hot chocolate, milk, chocolate milk.  There will also be a Chinese Auction located in the firehouse--$5 a sheet and a 50/50 raffle.  Ticket drawing starts at 3 p.m.  The Department is hosting the 138th Greene County Volunteer Firemen’s Association Convention on Sept. 9 – 12 and Ashland Fire Department’s 100th year.  Please come and support the Department and Auxiliary.  If you need more info, please call Diane at 518-734-3636.

Please join us on Saturday, April 11 at 1 p.m. at the Community Hall, 141 Spruceton Road, West Kill for the Town of Lexington Annual Patriots’ Day sponsored by the Town of Lexington Town Historians Mary Palazzolo and Christine Dwon.  Jonathan Palmer, Greene County Historian will have a special presentation on “Sourcing Revolution.”  Jon will talk on the broad array of primary source materials and traditional accounts that tell the story of the American Revolution in Greene County. From ambushes and skirmishes to political intrigue and test of loyalty, this talk will focus on noteworthy episodes and the remarkable surviving documents that preserve the evidence of these foundational events in our region’s history.  There will be refreshments, a door prize and 50/50 raffle.

Following Jonathan Palmer’s presentation, the West Kill/Lexington Community Improvement Association will be holding their annual meeting Saturday, April 11 at 3 p.m. at the Community Hall in West Kill.  There will be refreshments, a chance for everyone to look over the WKLCIA records and make suggestions for future activities.  The President and Treasurer of the WKLCIA will give their reports and there will be voting for members of the Board of Directors.

Mark your calendars for the annual WKLCIA’s Maple Brunch on Sunday, April 19 from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. with eggs, pancakes, bacon, sausage, potatoes, old fashioned grits, real maple syrup, savory dishes and much much more.  Adults are $20, children under 5 are free.

The Hunter Fire Company Spring Vendor Fair will be Saturday, May 2 from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. at the Hunter Firehouse, 17 Bridge Street, Hunter.  Rain date May 3.  It will be a fun-filled day supporting the Hunter Fire Company. For more info or to become a vendor contact directly MDM0466@gmail.com.

Greene County American Legion is sponsoring an Essay Contest on America’s 250th Birthday.  The theme, 300 words or less, is “What Does Being An American Mean To Me.”  Must include a cover sheet with name, grade and school attending.  School will be notified of the winner.  Mail postmarked by May 9, 2026 to GCAL Essay Contest, POB 21, Athens, NY 12015.  Winning prizes keep going up thanks to the generosity of individuals and companies involved.

The Greene County Senior Nutrition Program menu for the week of April 6 – April 10 is as follows: Monday—Macaroni and cheese, coleslaw, roasted asparagus, fruit cocktail; Tuesday—Chicken Divan, Tuscan vegetables, white rice, pears; Wednesday—Beef stew, broccoli, chocolate mousse with whipped topping; Thursday—Vegetable lasagna with white sauce, Italian mixed vegetables, yogurt parfait; Friday—Fish Florentine, potatoes Au Gratin, Sonoma vegetable mix, fresh fruit.  All persons 60 and older are invited to attend.  Meals served at noon, suggested $4 donation for each meal.  Congregate reservations are required by noon at least a day in advance.  If you reserve a meal and are unable to attend, please call as soon as you can to cancel.  The number to call for the Senior Service Center at the Jewett Municipal Building, 3547 Route 23C, Jewett is 518-263-4392.
