Central Bridge - Sandra Ann Mamrosh, 85, of Central Bridge, New York, passed away peacefully on March 1, 2026 at the Palatine Nursing Home and Rehabilitation Center.

Born on June 9, 1940, in Yonkers, New York, she was the daughter of John and Mildred Pawczyk Mamrosh. Sandy attended Public School #12 on Ashburton Avenue in Yonkers before moving with her entire family to Central Bridge in 1947. She graduated from Schoharie Central School in 1959, where she proudly played clarinet in the school marching band. She later continued her education at Mildred Elley.

In her younger years, Sandy helped in the family business, the Red Top Restaurant on Route 7 in Central Bridge, where she enjoyed working alongside her family and serving the community she loved.

Sandy began her career with the New York State Police Division Headquarters on the State Campus in Albany. During her distinguished 40-year career, she was primarily responsible for the production of the monthly publication, The Trooper – New York State Police Magazine. Her dedication and attention to detail were hallmarks of her work. She retired in 2002 after four decades of faithful service.

An avid bowler, Sandy participated for many years in a Schoharie bowling league, forming lasting friendships through the sport she enjoyed so much.

She was a devoted woman of faith. Over the years, she was a member of Holy Trinity Russian Orthodox Church in Yonkers, the former Zion Lutheran Church in Cobleskill—where she served on the Events Committee—and most recently St. Paul’s Lutheran Church in Richmondville. In the 1980s, she was also a member of the Central Bridge Civic Association.

Sandy is survived by her sister, Martha Mamrosh, at home; her nephews, Robert Holt of Cobleskill, Christopher Holt, Sr. of Central Bridge, her niece, Jennifer Holt of Central Bridge; and nephew, David (Kelly) Holt of Delanson; her great-nephews and nieces, Christopher Holt, Jr. of Esperance, Stephanie (Nick) Ferri of Howes Cave, and Ciera (Tyler) Sigond of Berne; and her great-great nieces and nephews, Leila Holt, Colton and Payton Ferri, and Elias and Velvet Holt.

She was predeceased by her parents and her sister, Patricia (Milton) Holt.

There will be no formal funeral service. A private burial will take place in the spring in the Mamrosh family plot at the Old Stone Fort Cemetery in Schoharie.

Sandy will be remembered for her quiet strength, steady dedication to her work and church, and her lifelong love for her family and community..

Since Sandy had a special love for animals—especially the pets she cherished throughout her life—those wishing to honor her memory may make a donation to the Animal Shelter of Schoharie Valley, PO Box 40, Howes Cave, NY 12092 or the Central Bridge Rescue Squad, PO Box 294, Central Bridge, NY 12035.
