Esperance (Schoharie County): Lee R. Robertson 83, of Charleston Street Esperance, NY, passed away Tuesday, February 24th at St. Peter’s Hospital in Albany after a decline in health.
Lee was born September 16, 1942 in Niskayuna, NY, a son of James L. and Reeta K. (Creede) Robertson, Jr. He graduated from Schoharie High School, class of 1960 and later, St. Rose College and finally, Schenectady County Community College. He enlisted in the Naval Reserves at age 17 and later served active duty from 1961 until his honorable discharge in 1970. He served on the USS Cadmus and the USS Mansfield in personnel. Lee would later join the US Army Reserves until retiring as an E8 in 1989. Lee worked for NYS Dept. of Labor for 32 years as an ‘on the job’ training specialist retiring in 2000. He was a member of the Goldwing Road Riders Association, the Combat Vets Motorcycle Club of Broadalbin, served as Commander of the American Legion Post #1091 in Rotterdam and was a longtime active member and PER of the Esperance BPO Elks Lodge #2507. His hobbies included auto mechanics and body work.
Survivors include: his wife, Verelyn Elain (Tallmadge) Robertson whom he married July 20, 1963, his son’s; David Alan Robertson of Alpharetta, Georgia and Steven Paul (Elizabeth) Robertson of Colonie, 3 grandchildren; Madeline, Nolan and Edward, his sister, Lynne Hartje of Cobleskill and several nieces and nephews. Lee was predeceased by his brother, Todd Robertson in 2010.
A period of visitation will be held on Saturday, February 28th at the Langan Funeral Home, 327 Main Stret Schoharie from 1-2PM followed by a brief prayer service. Burial will be later with military honors along with the Elks Funeral Service at the Esperance Cemetery.
