Carol Stryker, of Gilboa, passed away peacefully on Wednesday, February 25, 2026 at St. Peter's Hospice in Albany, after fighting a short illness with bravery and strength and is now at peace in Heaven.
Carol was born at the Stamford Hospital, 79 years ago on January 25, 1947 to Ruth (Murry) and Edwin Haight, of Grand Gorge. Carol was married to her loving husband Carson Stryker for over 57 years and she was extremely proud of her boys Mark (Tracy) and Scott (Kim) and the lives they built for themselves, as well as her grandchildren Joseph, Gabriella, Olivia, Julian and Brady. She adored her dog Skipper too and was rarely seen without him by her side.
Carol graduated from Grand Gorge Central School in 1964 and went on to attend Delhi College and then worked for BOCES at the Rexmere in Stamford. Carol, alongside Carson, ran the family business, Carson Stryker Trucking Inc. for decades. After many years of success, they sold the business to retire. Retirement didn't last long. Carol went to work as a dental receptionist and secretary in Rotterdam and later at Grapevine Farms in Cobleskill.
Carol was a woman of faith and remained an active member of the Gilboa Methodist Church for many years. She hosted a great deal of holidays and celebrations and later enjoyed the serenity of her home for precious time with her family and friends.
Please honor and remember Carol by sharing your memories with each other, they are sure to bring moments of happiness and laughter. Carol's wishes were for a private graveside service will be held in the Spring in Gilboa Rural Cemetery. Any additional celebrations will be announced at a later date.
