ONEONTA – The Gobblers United chapter of the NWTF is excited to announce they will be holding their inaugural Sportsmen’s Night Out banquet on Saturday April 18th.  The event will be held at the Quality Inn Oneonta with the doors opening at 4 pm and dinner to follow at 5:30.

This event marks the beginning of a new chapter in central NY, dedicated to the conservation of wild turkey and preserving our hunting heritage. Attendees can expect an evening filled with camaraderie, conservation, and fundraising all for protecting the wild turkey, its habitat, and the future of hunting.

The Gobblers United formed in the summer of 2025 and covers a general area encompassing northern Delaware and southern Otsego counties.  Along with the annual banquet the chapter hopes to hold additional fund raisers, youth events, promote mentorship for new hunters, sponsor scholarships, and facilitate habitat improvement projects in the area.

Preparations for the event are well underway with multiple ticket packages and opportunities for sponsorship and corporate tables.  Several firearms will be raffled along with over $1000 worth of items available in numerous bucket raffles.  Additionally, many unique NWTF items will be offered for both live and silent auction.  The funds raised will go directly to the conservation of the wild turkey with $.90 of every $1 going directly to that cause.  An excellent prime rib and chicken dinner will be provided by Tuller’s Catering.

Tickets for the banquet are available for purchase on the NWTF website  (https://events.nwtf.org/EVT-20663), by using the QR code, or directly from the Gobblers United chapter.  Along with raffle tickets and dinner, a NWTF or JAKES membership is also included. For more information email the chapter at gobblersunited@gmail.com, visit the Gobblers United Facebook group page, or contact the chapter president, Dan Vredenburgh (607-435-2919).

A Bit About the National Wild Turkey Federation

Since 1973, the National Wild Turkey Federation has invested over half a billion dollars into wildlife conservation and has positively impacted over 23 million acres of critical wildlife habitat. The NWTF has also invested over $9 million into wild turkey research to guide the management of the wild turkey population and to ensure sustainable populations into perpetuity.  In 2025 NYS raised over $600,000 for conservation and nearly 8000 acres were positively impacted through various projects.  The organization, both locally and nationally, continues to deliver its mission by working across boundaries on a landscape scale through its Four Shared Values: clean and abundant water, healthy forests and wildlife habitat, resilient communities, and robust recreational opportunities. With the help of its dedicated members, volunteers, partners and staff, the NWTF continues its work to provide Healthy Habitats and Healthy Harvests for future generations.
