SCHOHARIE COUNTY — A new competitive soccer opportunity has arrived in the region with the launch of the Schoharie County Soccer Club, a CDYSL‑affiliated travel program already drawing strong interest from local families. More than 70 children have registered for the club’s inaugural spring session, marking a significant expansion of youth sports options in the county.
Practices and home games will take place at Cobleskill‑Richmondville fields and Doc Reilly Park in Howes Cave, where five travel teams are preparing to take the field. Coaches will be reaching out to participants soon, and all coaching staff hold US Soccer coaching certifications, ensuring a high standard of training and player development.
The new club also represents a transition for local families: it will be taking over the long‑running Richmondville Summer Soccer program, continuing the tradition while expanding competitive opportunities for players ages 4 through 16.
Looking ahead, the Schoharie County Soccer Club will offer a Summer Soccer program at Doc Reilly Park. Fliers will be distributed in area schools, and families can contact Vicky Kleinberger at 518‑321‑7069 or email scssoccerclub25@gmail.com for more information or specific questions.
The club is also seeking local sponsors to help keep participation costs as low as possible for families. Organizers encourage the community to follow the club’s Facebook page for updates, announcements, and ways to support the players and coaches as the program grows.
More information will be released in the coming weeks as the club continues to expand its offerings and build excitement for youth soccer across Schoharie County
