WALTON — Sheriff Craig DuMond announced the arrest of a Walton man on vehicle and traffic charges.

On February 28th, Sheriff’s Deputies, while on patrol in the Village of Walton, observed a vehicle being operated, while the vehicle's registration was suspended. Upon conducting a traffic stop, Deputies identified the operator as 38-year-old Peter Wezkiewicz of Walton. Following an inquiry with the NYS DMV, Deputies found that Wezkiewicz’s privileges to operate a motor vehicle in NYS had been suspended and that the vehicle's registration was also suspended for a lapse in insurance.

Deputies arrested Wezkiewicz and charged him with Aggravated Unlicensed Operation of a Motor Vehicle in the 3rd degree and Operating a Motor Vehicle while the Registration was Suspended, both unclassified misdemeanors of the NYS Vehicle and Traffic Law. Additionally, Wezkiewicz was issued traffic summonses for Unlicensed Operator and Unregistered Motor Vehicle.

Wezkiewicz was released on traffic summonses and was directed to appear at the Village of Walton Court at a later date to answer the charges.
