EAST DURHAM — If you’ve ever been to the Blackthorne Resort in East Durham, you’ve probably met him. If you have seen him, you know exactly who I’m talking about. “The Cowboy.” He’s the towering presence at the bar door, seven feet tall, dressed head-to-toe like he just rode in from the Wild West. He stands out. You can’t miss him. Getting your picture taken with "The Cowboy" has even become a Blackthorne Tradition. But it’s not just the hat and boots that make him unforgettable, it’s the way he looks out for everyone. He keeps things running smooth. He keeps people safe. He’s part of the heartbeat of the Blackthorne Resort.
And right now… "The Cowboy" needs us.
His little sister, Rachael, and her 8-year-old son were involved in a devastating car accident. Rachael suffered a brain bleed, nine broken ribs, a punctured lung, a ruptured adrenal gland, pelvic fractures, and a broken elbow. As a massage therapist, she won’t be able to work for a long time.
Her young son endured a lacerated kidney, a bruised lung, a broken arm, and a sprained wrist. There are months of recovery ahead, Hospital stays, Rehab, Healing, Bills. Stress no family should face alone.
So now, we do what this community has always done, We show up.
The Blackthorne Resort family, along with many others, is coming together to host a "Benefit For Cowboys Little Sister" at the Blackthorne Resort Bar, 348 Sunside Rd, East Durham ,Saturday, March 21st at 4PM !
There will be: Incredible raffles, A Chinese auction, A live auction, A delicious buffet
Live entertainment by BIG EMPTY and more
And plenty of that spirit the Blackthorne Resort is famous for! All this for only a $25 Donation!!!
This is more than an event.
This is what being part of a community is all about. When one of us hurts — we all step up.
I’ll be your Emcee for the day at the benefit, and I’m personally asking everyone around the Mountain, and beyond to come out, stand together, and make a difference for this family. Let’s pack the place, Let’s lift them up. Let’s remind them they’re not alone.
(And be sure to get a Selfie with "The Cowboy")
I am your Bro, LJ James, and I’ll see you around the Mountain.
