HOWES CAVE — On Saturday, May 16 in the afternoon. The Community Church of Howes Cave will have an organist recital in dedication to Benjamin Frisch who died in a tragic skiing accident earlier this year. He was also a beloved organist of the church and tour guide for Howe Caverns.

Fellow organist and local performer Wally Jones said a May concert had been previously planned by Frisch and it was an honor to perform it in his stead.

“Benjamin really took care of everything,” said Jones.

After the first half, there will be a hymn sing, as Frisch used to perform with the crowd. Jones will play two pieces and perform the hymn sing. One will be on the organ and one will be on the piano, he said.

“Heaven is a lively place,” said Jones. There will be a celebration to honor a great young man, he added.

Jones said that Frisch was “like a gentle giant. Like an angel.” He said that Frisch was “beyond his years. He was so kind. Everybody loved him.”

“He was very dedicated,” Jones said, praising his skills as a self-taught musician.

“He would make you feel special and important,” said Jones. He also said that Frisch went “above and beyond” at his job at Howe Caverns. At the end, “he became your friend.”

“It’s so rare to meet someone so young who was so dedicated, so young, true blue, and involved with everything,” Jones said, praising Frisch’s family.

All musicians and instruments are welcome.

Elder Steve Dube also credited Frisch, who started the recitals, and said that he would have “kept it going as long as he could.”

Dube said that Frisch “is a humble, genuine servant of Christ” and “someone you can count on to be there.” He would always “show up with a smile on his face ready to do what needed to be done.”

Pastor Tom Davis said that Frisch was ordained as a lay preacher the same day that he had his accident and was studying for the clergy.

He said that Frisch had a “great character” and “liked to talk about the Lord. He brought people to God, that’s why he was studying to be a minister.”

“He was always helping do something. Doing for others, whatever it was,” Davis said.
