Meet Emily Bond - your new Sharon Springs Free Library Director, excited and ready to make a difference for all! What fantastic news for the Sharon community since this comes after a lengthy search. Emily started just last week!

With a passion for everything reading & writing, Emily has a Bachelors in Creative Writing from SUNY Oswego and has strong roots just west in Richfield Springs. In an exclusive interview, Bond first offered that, “the Library is welcoming for everyone” and that “there won’t be drastic changes, but look out for positive updates overall!”.

Emily believes, “Every book has a reader, and every reader has a book,” and wants to help combat the literacy crisis in America - particularly for middle school to high school students. “I’d love to see teens come and meet up at the Library and learn about the other resources available here too.”

“I want people to know the Library doesn’t have to be such a quiet place! Come in and chat too! It is a resource open to all and has great social aspects too!” With Emily at the desk, you’re sure to find a friendly smile and great reading recommendations too! Interested in writing, Bond even has some published pieces under her belt, you can find her under the pen name E.L. Bond, and there is even a novel in the works.

Bond looks forward to helping support and continue the current and valuable Library Programming, particularly Thursday morning Story Time with Ms. JoAnn, monthly book discussion, and Summer Reading Program too! There are some interesting ideas in the works as well with a new perspective on Main Street! After learning what a great and friendly fit Emily will be, she even offered, “Please let everyone know to ‘Stop by and say hi!’ I’m looking forward to meeting everyone!”

Bond joining the Team is quite exciting for the Library, especially since there have been big shoes to fill after the last Director moved on. According to Margaret Kindling (Library Board), “The Library Board would like to express their gratitude to interim Library Director, Helen Thomas, and Library Clerks JoAnn and Jeanne for stepping up during the recruitment process so the library could maintain normal hours and serve the community. The board is delighted to have Emily join the library as new director.”

Look out for the upcoming Great Book Giveaway on April 11 from 9:00 am - 2:00 pm in The Community Room next to The Library. Get your donated books in before April 9th. Bring your own bag and look out for updates on Facebook!

The Library is still on their Winter schedule so look out for the hours to update for Springs soon!
