MARGARETVILLE — Margaretville Central School recently wrapped up a joyful week celebrating the magic of reading and writing during its annual Dr. Seuss Spirit Week, inspired by the beloved book Oh, the Places You’ll Go!

Throughout the week, students and staff embraced creativity and school spirit through themed days that encouraged imagination and fun. Activities included Cat in the Hat Day, Fox in Socks Day, Wacky Wednesday, and Oh, the Places You’ll Go Day, where students dressed to represent their future dreams and aspirations.

The celebration culminated on Friday morning with a special Green Eggs and Ham Breakfast, where families were invited to join their children at school for a memorable literacy themed event. Parents and caregivers gathered alongside students to enjoy breakfast together while celebrating the joy of reading.

The morning held an extra surprise when the Cat in the Hat made a special visit, delighting students as the beloved Dr. Seuss' character stopped by to greet families and add even more fun to the celebration!

The event highlighted the school’s commitment to fostering strong connections between families and the learning environment while encouraging a lifelong love of books.

“Events like this bring our school community together in a meaningful way,” said Jeremey Marks, Building Administrator for Student Operations and Activities. “When students see their families participating in school traditions centered on reading and creativity, it reinforces that literacy is something to celebrate both in school and at home.”

The morning was filled with laughter, conversation, and smiles as students proudly shared the excitement of their Spirit Week with their families. The weeklong celebration also emphasized writing and storytelling, reinforcing the importance of literacy as a foundation for student success.

Margaretville Central School extends its appreciation to the staff members who organized the week’s activities and to the families who joined in the celebration.

As Dr. Seuss famously wrote, “The more that you read, the more things you will know. The more that you learn, the more places you’ll go.”
