CAIRO – On January 28, 2026, the Greene County Sheriff’s Office responded with the Town of Cairo Police and The State Police to a report of an unconscious/unresponsive 3 year old female at a private residence on Main St in Cairo. The victim, who was noted to have several visible injuries, was treated at the scene by Town of Cairo Ambulance personnel, Town of Durham Ambulance personnel and Greene County Medics before being airlifted to Albany Medical Center. An investigation was commenced which resulted in the arrest of Lameik Wilson, age 24, of Cairo, N.Y. Wilson was charged with Assault 2nd (D felony) and Endangering the Welfare of a Child (A Misdemeanor). It is alleged that Wilson intentionally caused serious physical injury to the child. The child remains hospitalized and is in critical condition. Wilson was arraigned before T/J Paolino, T/Catskill Court and committed to the Greene County Jail with No bail. The investigation remains ongoing. The Sheriff’s Office was assisted by the Greene County District Attorney’s Office and the New York State Police Forensic Identification Unit.
