MIDDLEBURGH - Less than a year after the old "chalet" came down, the village of Middleburgh officially has a new parking lot.

The final touches were put on the lot of Railroad Avenue Monday, Mayor Tim Knight said. Gravel, signs, and fencing are all in place.

During the winter, Middleburgh village board members approved a quote from Oakhill Landscaping for $5,426 to install a fence at the 111 Railroad Avenue parking lot. The old "chalet" building was taken down during the summer to make room for the parking lot.

All four available parking permits have been claimed by Railroad Avenue residents, meaning there will be six spots open for the general public, the Mayor said.

The old "chalet" house at 111 Railroad Avenue was taken down in late summer and village officials unveiled the design of the 92-foot long by 37-foot wide parking lot at their meeting in October.
