MIDDLEBURGH — Jim Schilling, the lead organizer behind the upcoming Middleburgh Energy Symposium, confirmed this week that the event remains on schedule at the Middleburgh Town Hall on 139 Cotton Hill Rd in Middleburgh NY on Sunday, May 3rd from 2 to 5 PM., dismissing suggestions that the initiative should be postponed until next year.

Schilling’s commitment comes as he continues to coordinate with local businesses like Middleburgh Hardware to provide practical solutions for residents. During a recent visit to the store, Schilling consulted with Heather Vilegi to design a comprehensive "Energy Savings Kit." The proposed kit, which includes items ranging from weatherization materials to high-efficiency light bulbs that cost less than $1.50 per year to operate, is intended to be affordable for the average homeowner.

"Do you think the people could get the whole 'kit' for under $100.00?" Schilling asked Vilegi. She confirmed the price point was achievable without hesitation. Schilling intends to purchase a prototype of the kit to display at the symposium.

The urgency of the event was underscored during Schilling’s visit when he encountered a recent transplant from California who had struggled to keep her "old" home warm during a harsh Upstate New York winter. Schilling provided the resident with information on the symposium and contact details for various energy-saving programs.

Despite being advised by some to reschedule for the following year, Schilling remains adamant that the event must happen now.

"The need is now and I could not live with myself if I quit," Schilling said. "If I have to give out 200 ice cream cones to get people to attend and have to go out and dig up people who want to help others save money on their energy bills, by George, I'll do it."

Further details regarding the date and location of the Middleburgh Energy Symposium are expected to be released as the event nears.
