CHARLESTON FOUR CORNERS — The weather is getting nicer and it’s time to prepare your pool for summer. Countryside Pool Services offers a variety of different services for those in our coverage area. Andrew Ragozzino is from Charleston Four Corners and has been operating pool services and features for about 15 years. He worked under his uncle before working at a chemical factory while doing pools part-time. Ragozzino is currently running a family operation with his wife and teaching his kids along the way.
Ragozzino decided to make a career change and open his own pool company. It’s his first season on his own.
He said that his experience has grown and allowed him to operate Countryside.
His family owns a black angus beef farm Stone Haven 52 Beef Farm and brings the passion and dedication into the pool business.
Ragozzino plans to cover Schenectady, Schoharie, Montgomery, and parts of Albany County.
The most common local pool work is pool openings and closings. This includes removing coverings, placing chemicals and faceplates in the pool, pressure washing concrete around the pool, and making sure that the pool is in “tip-top shape.”
For pool closings, he prepares the pool for the winter.
His extra care sets him apart, he said.
Ragozzino often replaces motors, changes liners, and services filters. Regular maintenance is key, he said. He is currently enrolling regular clients, especially those preparing their pools for the nicer weather.
Keeping good care of a home pool is essential, including “keeping the chemistry balanced in the pool is everything,” he said. Being able to pay special care will keep the housing and liner lasting longer, including wearing elements within the motors.
The Countryside Pool Services owner said that “working in the sunshine” is his favorite part of the job. To make sure that the chemical balance is where it should be, a pool professional can provide prompt service.
“We’re looking out for our customers,” he said. The family-based business allows for quality service at more affordable costs than larger corporate chains with high overhead.
