SCHOHARIE – Shataya Scott, founder of Braids 4 Grades, is offering hair braiding classes at all four Schoharie County libraries starting on Saturday, March 14, 11am-1pm at Schoharie Library.
In these fun and interactive classes, participants will learn the art of braiding using mannequin heads and gain skills in patience, focus, and self-expression. The program aims to boost self-awareness, self-confidence, and self-esteem while teaching a valuable skill.
Ms. Scott will cover basic braiding techniques such as box braids and cornrows, hair care, and styling tips.
The classes are open to all ages, and participants are welcome to attend one or multiple sessions. The last class will include a showcase and celebration.
Schedule: Saturdays, 11am-1pm.

Through her non-profit Braids 4 Grades, Ms. Scott offers free specialized braided hairstyles to youth in the Capital District in exchange for exceptional school grades. She has been providing this service since 2017, and has taught Learn 2 Braid classes throughout the region for several years.
