SOUTH KORTRIGHT - The fourth inning is when the bats really came alive for the Lady Rams, who scored 11 runs in a 16-0 defeat of Hunter-Tannersville (H-T) at home Monday.
South Kortright’s (SK/Andes) Annlyse Haynes and Carlee Dropp each executed singles, while Gabriellah Bene also had a single which resulted in a pair of runs for the home team. Madysen Reeves had a triple and she and Lilly Temple drove in another two runs.
The Rams jumped out to an early lead and maintained that lead for the duration of the match-up.
Standout pitcher Nelah Brown struck out nine batters, allowing one walk - she allowed two hits and no runs over four innings. Wildcat pitcher Abigail Dwon struck out five and walked six for H-T. The SK squad had nine hits and 11 earned runs in the victory.
Ella Byam took the mound for one inning, striking out one and walking one.
Dropp went 3-for-4 at the plate to lead the Lady Rams to victory. Haynes went 2-for-3, while Bene went 1-for-3 at bat.
The Rams aggressive base running was the name of the game and the team collectively, stole 14 bases. On the defensive side, SK/Andes didn’t commit a single error.
For the Wildcats, Brooke Becker, Paige Rinaldi and Jude Sabugueiro each contributed one hit in the game.
