KORTRIGHT – Sheriff Craig DuMond announced the arrest of a Town of Kortright man following an investigation into a child abuse referral. 

On March 9th, Sheriff’s Deputies and Delaware County Child Protective Services received a referral regarding an alleged domestic incident involving possible child abuse.  Upon further investigation it was determined that a physical domestic incident had occurred on March 8th, 2026, that was never reported to police and during that incident, multiple children in the residence were involved in a verbal and physical altercation with an adult. 

At the conclusion of the investigation, Deputies arrested Brian Fenton, age 42 of Kortright, for Assault in the 3rd degree, Criminal Obstruction of Breathing, and 2 counts of Endangering the Welfare of a Child, all class A misdemeanors of the NYS Penal Law.

Upon completion of arrest processing, Fenton was turned over to the Delaware County Correctional Facility to await arraignment at CAP Court.
